报告摘要:
The discovery of new polymorphs of known chemical compounds is an important field in solid state chemistry. Taking into account the additional parameter pressure, this field of research can be extended by giving access to a variety of high-pressure polymorphs of elements or compounds.
This presentation will give some insights in a multitude of new synthetic achievements in the field of borates, such as the new rare earth metal(III)oxoborates like RE4B6O15 (RE=Dy, Ho), α-RE2B4O9 (RE = Sm–Ho) and HP-NiB2O4, which were performed under high-pressure conditions using the multianvil technique. Especially the investigations in the field of transition metal borates resulted in fascinating new compounds, e.g. the molybdenum borate Mo2B4O9, incorporating tetrahedral molybdenum clusters into an anionic borate crystal structure — a structural motif that has never been observed before in the wide field of borate crystal chemistry.
